A very warm Cypriot welcome awaited K D in Limassol recently as she keynoted the very first East Med Expo conference talking about sustainable transformation, the shift from innovation to invention and the future for the shipping & maritime industry.

Enjoying many fascinating conversations and some spectacular fireworks K D was honoured to be invited to give the keynote for the inaugural East Med Expo Conference in Limassol, Cyprus recently.

Taking as its theme ‘Rebooting the Maritime Industry: How can technology drive value, resilience and sustainability?’ the conference discussed how achieving critical, industry-wide and global goals ahead demands a new approach to maritime technology. Attendees focussed on how to reassess, reprioritise and reboot, using technology to connect and reimagine data ecosystems, reframe industry challenges, secure the societal license to operate, and grasp the emerging opportunities on the horizon.

K D has been invited to Cyprus to speak regularly over the years and was struck as ever during this visit by the warmth of the welcome from everyone. Addressing several hundred senior maritime and shipping industry and government figures with her keynote ‘Invent Horizon’  K D explained the need for business globally to undergo sustainable transformation, develop core competencies, new priorities and a mindset shift from disruptive innovation to integrative invention to create sustainable, shared value and growth across multiple stakeholder ecosystems.

Following her keynote she took on the role of presenter overseeing two high-level panels, one a strategic global leaders debate, and the other focussed on cutting-edge technologies from metaverse to mixed-reality with some of the industry’s most visionary technology companies.

The event was rounded off with a spectacular fireworks display and an invitation to what K D describes as a ‘banging’ afterparty, which went on late into the night.

As part of the event K D was also interviewed by organizers Fameline Group about her views on how maritime technology has a role to play in helping to achieve critical global goals ahead. You can watch the video below.
